Breaking Through Betrayal: And Recovering the Peace Within
This is an original work on the topic of betrayal based on my observations and analysis of clients’ experiences through my work as a Marriage and Family Therapist. The book addresses betrayal as a singular issue while linking it to a myriad of triggers and precipitating factors. Utilizing a Client Centered approach to affirm and validate client experience, the book explores and examines betrayal by dissecting its anatomy and educating the reader about its meaning, prevalence, sources, manifestations, and infectious impact. There are Cognitive exercises within and at the end of each chapter designed to engage the reader in the process of healing as well as to allow time for reflection and release. The second half of the book is based primarily on Cognitive Behavioral Theory. This section invites the reader to take part in a sequentially-based interactive process designed specifically for recovery from all kinds of betrayal. A healing continuum for self-assessment, pacing, and direction is also an integral piece of my recovering approach. Target Audiences The primary audience for Breaking Through Betrayal: And Recovering the Peace Within is for clients. It is for any individual who has experienced betrayal, who carries the wounds or scars of betrayal injury, and who is struggling to break through its bonds. The secondary audience would include mental health care practitioners: MFT’s, LCSW’s, Clinical Psychologists, and other licensed professionals. The book is an excellent tool to utilize during and/or in addition to individual, couples, or family/group therapy. It could also be used as an adjunct resource with issues of co-morbidity. Thus, the work would also appeal to recovery centers or hospitals addressing a myriad of diverse issues.
