David’s Code Over the past year, many people have asked me why I chose to dedicate my latest book Breaking Through Betrayal: And Recovering The Peace Within to a former student.  The short answer to the question is that in a teaching career that spanned almost 30 years and after having the privilege of working with over 3,000 students, “The goodness in David Miller, simply and beautifully, brought out the good in everyone.”  The longer answer to the question came in discovering that David’s goodness was no accident.  At a very young age, David chose to walk a path of respect, honor, personal integrity and truth. By the age of 19, David articulated his philosophy of conduct in the form of a hand-written 5 Point Personal Code which was found among his writings in his college dorm room, after his untimely passing.  Although David is no longer with us in life, his legacy – His 5 Point Personal Code- lives on.  It is a message we must all hear…and heed.

David’s Code - What is in it for each of us?

• An urgent call to look inside ourselves, to identify the good and to combat the not-so-good.
• A personal challenge to find a way of conducting ourselves that fills us with goodness, and then spills onto others.
• A truth-filled recipe for individual responsibility and accountability.
• A repertoire of attitudes, which when embraced, strengthens our identity, integrity, and purpose.

Holli Kenley will present free of charge to any organization or institution an inspiring and challenging message based on Daivd’s 5 Point Personal Code. This presentation is not limited to but is especially designed for audiences who are experiencing:

• acts of betrayal such as bullying and cyber-bullying.
• acts of disrespect and disregard for one another’s individuality, social group, ethnicity or culture.
• a deterioration of empathy for another individual’s worth, value, and significance.
• an overall indifference of accountability for one’s actions and choices.

Holli’s has only one request.  For any copies of Breaking Through Betrayal which are sold to audiences, the profits from sales will go to a designated non-profit or charitable cause of the sponsoring organization’s choosing.

David Miller Memorial Scholarship Fund – La Quinta High School , La Quinta, California

The David Miller Memorial Scholarship in Social Science has been established at La Quinta High School in La Quinta, California.  David graduated from LQHS in June 2005 as an International Baccalaureate Diploma Graduate.  In June 2010, the first recipient of David Miller’s Memorial Scholarship will be honored.
